Service user display celebrates Autism Awareness Month

Autism Awareness Month 2026 visual

April is Autism Awareness Month – a time to focus on acceptance, understanding and support for autistic people.

To highlight this, we’re proud to showcase the work of some of our autistic service users who were asked to share what autism means to them.

Our display at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup, on show throughout the month, is a celebration of creativity, individuality and strength which highlights the diversity of experiences within the autistic community.

In the words of one Lived Experience Co-Producer...

Art is different to everyone – a bit like autism. Some are quiet, some are loud, some are still, some are fast – everyone is unique. We’re worth getting to know.

Darcie Boon, ASD Specialist Support Worker said:

We hope this exhibition not only demonstrates the talent of our clients, but also helps to increase understanding, awareness and acceptance of autism by sharing lived experiences and creative expression.

You can find the display in the corridor to the left of main reception.
