Raja Rajendran | Learning Disability

I'm a Service User/Carer Governor representing service user and carer members who use our Learning Disability Services. I've been a Governor since 2016.

I live in Erith within the Bexley Borough. I've worked in the Civil Service for the Ministry of Justice for 14 years. My area of work is financial governance.

I previously worked in the banking sector for 28 years. Prior to this, I completed a Law degree from the University of London.

I became a Governor because I believe that the role offers great opportunities. I want to use these opportunities and add value to the role.

Oxleas has played a crucial role in my life. Bexley Learning Disability Team at Stuart House has given valuable support and help to my son, who has a learning disability.

My focus is on the Learning Disability Services provided by Oxleas. I take every opportunity to interact with service users, identify areas of concern and then share these with the Trust.

The best thing about being a Governor is that I am proud to be part of an organisation which aims to improve peoples' lives.

I’m a member of ‘Ace of Hearts’, a cardiac support group, the Erith Veterans' Club and I’m a local Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator. I also take part in community fund-raising events for the British Heart Foundation.
