Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) - Bexley

The London Borough of Bexley approves an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for the purposes of the Mental Health Act.
Bexley AMHP service will consider alternative options to formal detention. These include:
- Greater support from the care coordinator and referring team.
- Input from the Home Treatment Team.
- Crisis and respite care provision.
The Bexley AMHP service can offer a pre-Mental Health Act assessment if required. We will also guide and support practitioners with any referral requests received.

Referrals
You can be referred to this service by:
- Healthcare professionals
- Your nearest relatives
- GPs
We review all referrals and prioritise them according to current risk. When we accept a referral, we keep the referrer informed of progress throughout the planning and implementation stage.
