CAMHS Brief Intervention Home Treatment Team (CBIHTT)

  • Our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Brief Intervention Home Treatment Team (CBIHTT) will offer an 8am -10pm service, 7 days a week, for young people between the ages of 12 to 18 years old, who live in London borough of Bexley, Bromley or Greenwich.

    There are two treatment pathways:

    • one offering a 2-4 week crisis and stabilisation intervention
    • the other offering a 2-6 week assessment, formulation, and brief therapeutic intervention.

The service aims to deliver a 2-6 week brief intervention treatment based on evidence to provide high-quality care in the right place at the right time for young people who are experiencing acute mental health conditions.

Personalised treatment and care plans delivered in the least restrictive manner, which encompasses individual therapeutic work. The length of treatment will depend on the individual's needs.

Our team

We are a multidisciplinary team, which is a group of clinicians from different professional backgrounds such as social workers, nurses, and medical professionals who work together to support young people with their mental health.

We also work closely with children, young people, and their parents or carers.

The team also collaborates with other local services in the across Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich areas. These include:

  • GPs
  • Schools
  • Social services
  • Other community organisations

We recognise that everyone plays an important role in supporting good mental health.

Our aims

Our service aims to provide brief interventions in the community for young people experiencing a mental health crisis as an alternative to hospital admission.

Care and treatment will be timely, individually tailored based on need, and in the least restrictive environment.

It aims to support the resolution of systemic community difficulties that may have contributed to risk escalation. The team will provide an integrated service working with our partners in health, social care, and education and a service where equality and diversity underpins care.
