Services A–Z

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Service - Greenwich

  • The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Service provides specialist care to patients with COPD. The service helps patients manage their condition and stay as healthy as possible. To do this we use a combination of clinic appointments and home visits.

From Monday to Saturday, service users can also call the COPD Service for assessment, treatment and advice when they feel unwell with their breathing. This allows us to look after patients in their own homes and reduce the need for hospital admission.

    Other services include:

    Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a six-week course, with classes delivered twice a week. It involves exercise and education. The class is at the Plumstead Centre on Wednesdays and Fridays. The education sessions cover a range of topics, including:

    • Medication
    • Managing chest infections and breathlessness
    • Diet
    • Anxiety and low mood

We also offer an online Virtual Pulmonary Rehabilitation course for patients who cannot attend our face-to-face sessions and have the technology needed to connect online.

GRACE (Greenwich Respiratory Advice, Self-Care & Education)

Grace is a half-day session for newly diagnosed COPD patients and all COPD patients who would like to learn more about their condition.

    Oxygen

The COPD team also manages the oxygen prescription service for patients registered with a Greenwich GP.

    COPD Diagnostics

Clinics are held twice a week to support GPs with a quick and accurate diagnosis of COPD.

Carers are welcome and encouraged to attend all of the above services.

The videos are hosted on the South East London Integrated Care System (SELICS) website and can be viewed via this link:
