Community Mental Health Rehabilitation and Enablement (CMHRES) Service - Bromley

  • The Bromley Community Mental Health Rehabilitation & Enablement (CMHRES) Service helps individuals who are experiencing and recovering from severe and enduring mental health problems.

    Our team works with service users, carers and family networks to help you achieve your goals. We aim to minimise the impact of long-term mental health difficulties and create a culture of hope and empowerment.

    We want to:

    • Develop daily living skills and coping strategies
    • Work towards greater independence
    • Develop a positive and healthy approach to occupational, self-care, leisure, environmental and psychological needs
    • Increase stability in your life and your carers’ lives
    • Improve engagement with mental health services
    • Improve social networks and social inclusion
    • Have fewer hospital admissions or help you spend less time in hospital if admission is essential
    • Promote independence by helping service users move on to less supported accommodation.

    We organise the following weekly activities:

    • Bromley Group Brunch (Mondays at 11.30 am)
    • Community Boxing Group at Swanley Boxing Gym (Tuesdays 2 pm)
    • Working Group at Foal Farm (Wednesdays 9 am)
    • Walking Group at Beckenham (Wednesdays 1 pm)

    We organise the following monthly activities:

    • Football Tournament (Thursdays, once a month 10 am - 1 pm)
    • London Trip (Thursdays, once a month 10 am - 4p m)
    • Art group (Wednesdays, for six months at 1 pm)

    The activities may be changed according to peoples’ interests, weather conditions, seasons etc.

Our team

We are a multidisciplinary team. This means we are a group of professionals who specialise in different areas of medicine but work together to make decisions about how to care for mental health conditions.

Our team is made up of:

  • Team manager
  • Clinical psychologist
  • Occupational therapists
  • Community psychiatric nurses
  • Apprentice nurse associates
  • Team administrator

We are part of a planned and integrated approach to care. This means we work with other teams to deliver care. These teams include the Home Treatment and Crisis Teams, as well as other specialist services.

How to access this service

To access this service, you must:

  • Maintain contact with medical and mental health services and be willing to engage with the team and accept Bexley CMHRES support.
  • Establish two rehabilitation goals at the point of assessment.

Referrals

We do not accept referrals for people who have:

  • Primary diagnosis of autism or a learning disability
  • Primary diagnosis of substance use
  • Primary diagnosis of personality disorder
  • Symptoms which occur because of neurological disorder, i.e., organic condition or head injury and neurological impairment resulting from alcohol and substance misuse
