Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Service - Bexley

The MS Service provides specialist nursing support for people in Bexley who have Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as well as to their families and carers.
The specialist nurses work with you and your carers to ensure you receive the best care at the right time, throughout the course of the condition.
The MS Specialist Nurse will help:
- You understand your diagnosis
- Explain your condition and symptoms to your family
- Reassure you about your changing symptoms
- Manage your condition and be independent
- Discuss your treatment and care options as your condition changes
- Refer you to other services and specialists
- Coordinate your care plans and treatment teams

People with MS may be cared for by a wide range of specialists. The specialist nurse works alongside the following healthcare professionals:
- Consultant neurologists
- GPs

- Physiotherapists

- Rehabilitation specialists
- Speech and language therapists
- Social services
How to access this service
To access this service, you must be:
- Registered with a Bexley GP and live in the Bexley borough. This includes patients living in Nursing Care Homes and residential care homes
- Aged 18 or above
Depending on your needs, you can see your specialist nurse in one of the following ways:
- Hospital outpatient appointment (Queen Elizabeth Hospital)
- Community clinic appointments at Erith Health Centre and Queen Mary’s Hospital
- At home
- By telephone
Referrals
Once you have a confirmed diagnosis, the Multiple Sclerosis Nurse accepts self-referrals.
