The Intensive Home Treatment Team (IHTT) helps individuals in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich suffering an acute mental health crisis.

Our aims
Our primary aim is to provide care and treatment for older people with mental health problems at home. Treatment at home prevents hospital admission and gives the patient an alternative treatment option that is sensitive to the service user's needs and wishes.
There are clear benefits to home treatment for older adults with mental health problems. Home treatment involve carers more easily. It also prevents the disorientation of leaving a familiar environment. It promotes independence and helps the service user retain control of their life and treatment.
We always respect patients as individuals with the right to be consulted about their care and treatment. Carers are encouraged to participate in the service user's care and treatment. Education and support will be offered to them.
Our team
We are a multidisciplinary team. This means we are a group of professionals who specialise in different areas of medicine but work together to make decisions about how to care for patients. Our team delivers care together with inpatient, crisis and specialist services.
How to access this service
To access this service, you must:
- Be in contact with and known to Older People’s Services. These include the Community Mental Health Team, Memory Service and Inpatient Services.
- Be assessed by a liaison if you were previously assessed in a hospital setting.
Referrals
We do not accept referrals from:
- GPs
- Patients, families and carers
