Older Adults, Liaison Service - Greenwich

  • The Greenwich Older Adults Mental Health Liaison Service provides specialist mental health consultation and liaison services to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

    This includes assessing and creating care plans for people experiencing a mental health crisis. We typically help people referred from the Emergency Department or wards and departments in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

    Our team also provides training to the acute trust (Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust – LGT).

Our aims

The Greenwich Older Adults Mental Health Liaison Service aims to:

  • Offer individuals choice and involvement regarding their treatment.
  • Encourage people to participate in the planning and delivery of their care.
  • Ensure individuals receive a comprehensive assessment of all their health and social care needs and risks.
  • Create an appropriate treatment, care and risk management plan for every patient. The plan will include the views of the service user and relevant carers.
  • Provide a service that is accessible to all sections of the local population.

How to access this service

To access this service, you must:

  • Be aged 65 years or above, unless you have a dementia diagnosis

The service is available:

Monday to Friday (8am - 8pm)

Weekends and bank holidays (9am - 5pm)

Referrals

You can be referred to this service by:

  • The Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital
  • Wards on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Referrals will be seen within the hour at the Emergency Department and within 24 hours on a ward.
