The Paediatric Audiology Service performs hearing tests for children under 18 years of age in the boroughs of Bexley & Greenwich.
We provide a hearing assessment and diagnosis for children with ear diseases or hearing loss. When necessary, we refer service users to other specialist services. This includes the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department for surgical intervention or our Tertiary Service at St Thomas’ Hospital for hearing aid management.
We also provide an Aetiological Investigations Service twice a month at Acorns, Queen Mary's Hospital. Aetiological investigations are when we attempt to identify the cause of hearing loss. During this process, a specialist Consultant Community Paediatrician can request a range of tests to try and determine the possible causes of deafness.
The service works closely with all the specialist children’s services. These include:
We are based at Acorns, Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup. We also run a clinic in Bexley at Erith Health Centre and clinics in Greenwich at Highpoint House and Plumstead Health Centre.

We accept referrals from GPs and any other healthcare professionals who have concerns regarding a child's hearing.
