Parkinson’s Disease Service - Bexley

  • The Bexley Parkinson's Disease Service provides specialist nursing support and care for people in Bexley who have Parkinson’s Disease (PD). We also assist patients’ families, carers and health professionals.

    Our nurses aim to help you stay well and live independently. To achieve this, we:

    • Work with your doctors so that you get the best care.
    • Ensure everyone who needs to know about your condition understands how it affects you.
    • Help you understand and get the most out of the treatments the team can offer.
    • Adjust your medicines to improve your symptoms.
    • Make sure you receive other treatments that will help you.

    Our specialist nurses see patients:

    • At a hospital outpatient appointment
    • At home
    • By telephone

    We try to arrange an appointment that reflects your needs.

Our team

People with Parkinson’s Disease are cared for by a range of healthcare professionals. Part of the Bexley PD Service’s role is to coordinate with these professionals so you get the best possible care. They include:

  • GPs
  • Nurses
  • Speech and language therapists
  • Dieticians
  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Social workers
  • Community health professionals

How to access this service

To access this service, you must be:

  • Aged 18 or above
  • A Bexley resident
  • Registered with a Bexley GP (this includes patients living in Nursing Care Homes and residential care homes)
  • Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease

Referrals

We accept referrals from:

  • Your GP
  • Other healthcare professionals.
