The Forensic Social Work Service supports and supervises individuals subject to Conditional Discharge following Restriction Orders. We operate in both the secure in-patient setting and within the community.
Forensic Social Workers liaise with MAPPA, MARAC, Victim Services and the Offender Management Team. We aim to balance public protection, effective risk management and social inclusion, whilst implementing legal duties.
This includes analysing legislation, guidance, policy and research which affects the delivery of services in line with assessed risks and priorities.

The team helps with the repatriation of foreign national patients and ensures s117 aftercare provisions are met by CCGs and Local Authorities.

Legal knowledge and an ability to understand how and when to intervene are both necessary and appropriate in forensic settings and need to be reflected within Social Circumstance Reports submitted to the Mental Health Review Tribunal.
The Forensic Social Work Service works in conjunction with the Bracton Centre’s multidisciplinary team and referrals are made via the Responsible Clinician.
