Leading the way – Black Healthcare Award for Oxleas CEO Ify
Recently ranked among the Health Service Journal’s top 15 NHS Chief Executives, our Chief Executive, Ify Okocha, has now won an executive leader award from the Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN).
The network is a Black-led organisation set up to address health inequalities and the wider social disparities for people of Caribbean and African descent.
Its annual Black Healthcare Awards celebrate the achievements of Black individuals from African, Caribbean and diaspora backgrounds who have demonstrated excellence in healthcare.
Ify was nominated for, and has won an Executive Leader – Livingbridge Award, which is awarded to practising senior leaders who demonstrate outstanding vision, governance, and impact across health systems.

Thank you to the Black Healthcare Awards and to CAHN for creating space where Black excellence in healthcare is seen and celebrated.
I am an older Black man still learning, still serving, and still believing that representation saves lives. When young Black professionals see themselves reflected at every level of healthcare, from the ward to the boardroom, that’s when real change happens.
To everyone doing the work: keep going. Our communities need us, and we need each other.

Our media team is responsible for:

- Arranging interviews with our nationally and internationally renowned experts who can talk about some of the trust’s specialist topics

Filming and photography requests
We receive documentary, location and broadcast filming requests on a regular basis – we consider all proposals on an individual basis and will try to accommodate proposals where possible, if appropriate.
No photography or filming is permitted without prior arrangement and agreement. Our patients always come first and we have a duty to protect their safety and confidentiality. Anyone found filming or taking photographs on the trust premises without the permission of the trust’s communications team will be asked to leave by the security department and may face prosecution.
Unless agreed otherwise, film crews and photographers must be accompanied by a member of the Communications Team at all times.
