New Listen to Girls podcast focuses on access to healthcare
There is increasing recognition that girls’ physical health is getting worse and that girls need tailored health services.
In this new episode of Who Run the World, the group discuss current health challenges for girls - including period poverty and who to trust for health advice online. They are joined by expert guest Dr Najette Ayadi-O'Donnell, Consultant Paediatrician at University College Hospital, London.
Who Run the World is co-produced, scripted and hosted by girls aged 11 to 18, drawing on their lived experiences of the issues.
At Oxleas, listening to children and young people is central to understanding how services can better support the communities we serve. Through the Listen to Girls project, young people have been sharing their experiences, insights and priorities, helping to shape conversations around health and wellbeing.
The Who Run the World podcast gives young people an opportunity to lead conversations on subjects that affect them directly. From girls' mental health to violence against women and girls, the series is designed to amplify young voices, encourage understanding and spark meaningful discussion.
It's a compelling watch or listen for anyone who wants to learn more about what matters to girls’ health.

Filming and photography requests
We receive documentary, location and broadcast filming requests on a regular basis – we consider all proposals on an individual basis and will try to accommodate proposals where possible, if appropriate.
No photography or filming is permitted without prior arrangement and agreement. Our patients always come first and we have a duty to protect their safety and confidentiality. Anyone found filming or taking photographs on the trust premises without the permission of the trust’s communications team will be asked to leave by the security department and may face prosecution.
Unless agreed otherwise, film crews and photographers must be accompanied by a member of the Communications Team at all times.
