Woodlands Unit – Bexley

The Woodlands Unit provides 24-hour inpatient services for adults living in the borough of Bexley.
It consists of the Holbrook Ward, Lesney Ward and Millbrook Ward. Details for each ward can be found below.
Holbrook Ward
Holbrook Ward is a dementia intensive care unit that cares for adults and older adults with complex needs related to their dementia. The ward was refurbished in 2016 to make it a stimulating and comfortable environment.
The Holbrook Ward team works with a range of other healthcare professionals to support carers and families. The ward includes a lounge area, dining area, kitchen, salon, potting shed, garden, art room and many sensory activities that benefit our patients.
The purpose of admission is to facilitate a timely person-centred assessment by specialist staff and to develop a personal care and management plan to enable a safe discharge from the ward.
On the ward, we provide:
- A safe and dementia-friendly care environment
- Person-centred, multidisciplinary team assessment and care planning
- Medical assessment and treatment
- Socio-psychological assessment and interventions
- Tailored and meaningful activities
- Joint working with community services to plan for discharge
- Support for family and carers
The Woodland's Unit runs a carers group every Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm.

Lesney Ward
The Lesney Ward cares for people aged 18 to 65 with mental health needs who live in the Belvedere, Barnehurst, Crayford, Erith and Northumberland Heath areas.
Our patients have access to support from a team that includes:
- Consultant psychiatrist
- Psychologists
- Mental health nurses
- Nursing associates
- Healthcare assistants
- Occupational therapists
- Other professionals who support patients in their recovery

Millbrook Ward
The Millbrook Ward cares for people aged 18 to 65 with mental health needs who live in the Bexleyheath, Bexley, Blackfen, Cray, Sidcup, Thamesmead and Welling areas.
Our patients have access to support from a team that includes:
- Consultant psychiatrist
- Psychologists
- Mental health nurses
- Nursing associates
- Healthcare assistants
- Occupational therapists
- Other professionals who support patients in their recovery
You can book visits on the ward with families, carers and loved ones over the age of 18 years through the ward staff. If visitors are under the age of 18, you can book visits in the family room via reception.
